Funny Story about Scientist on a Mission

Here is Sonny Boy "Guitar Wolf" back from his expedition for the lost Sheba of Shrilanka.

His mission victorious he shares his tale with his Aunty Sheba (by adoption) and reads to her about the great obstacles he encountered along the way.

His Aunty Sheba is very impressed and decides she would like to visit the Falls of the Baba-deesh, so he decides to take Aunty Sheba to visit the falls and bathe in their healing waters.

Aunty Sheba feels good after the healing waters and then decides to fly and home and take a nap and dream of other great adventures she might go on.

The end.

Molly's 3 Success Rules to Making It in Your Career

If you want to get rich and famous make sure the price is right!

How much are you willing to pay and can you afford it?

Is it worth the price?

Decide now, while you are judging your aspirations.

Set your priorities and don't forget to:

Take great care of yourself, and those whom you love (that is, if health, and happiness are a priority to you!)

If you can't manage alone, seek moral support, even if you have to pay good money for it.

It is often said that, "Life is what we make of it," and yet sometimes, situations can overwhelm us and ignite fires of wrath and dischord (similar to those chord clusters you hear by Alban Berg for all you former Music majors.)

Be a peacemaker, and a "pacemaker." Set a positive pace and make things sweet and simple whenever you can.

Create systems of simplicity and organized focus and maintain them.

I am writing this little article because yesterday my duo, "Molly and Sonny Boy" encountered a few unforeseen stressors involving our 2 gigs that nearly discombobulated our equilibrium as a dream-team.

We rose early to the sound of our alarm that screeches like a freaking chantaclear (rooster.)

We left the house early forsaking the pooch's dog-walk so as to arrive on time.

Note: We sometimes have a tendancy to arrive in the eleventh hour and wind up hustling to set up our sound equipment, thus starting our gigs 5 or 10 minutes late and in a frantic mood.

Although we left early, we surprisingly arrived in the usual tardy time.

Why? What happened?

A train just outside the town we were heading to was stationary on the tracks. The train blocked the highway for a half hour as railway workers leisurely chose to re-connect a bunch of train cars.

Impatient drivers were in abundance.

Some idiots tried to pass us, but to no avail.

Nothing and no one budged.

Thank goodness we had our Ipod along.

We calmed our nerves by singing along to hilarious Dr. Demento Songs such as, "Star Trekkin', "King Tut," "Time Warp," "Ti Kwan Leep," and "Monster Mash!

After our first gig, we thought we had plenty of time. We dropped by a coffee shop to see if they still booked live acts (alas, no they stopped doing that ages ago.)

Afterwards, we walked a couple blocks over to a Music Store to purchase guitar picks, (which we forgot to pack along with us on our gigs,) and find out some gig leads from the store owner.

On our happy way to the next gig we were alarmed when we discovered that we'd missed the exit signs to where we had to go to perform, and so we had to backtrack to find the right city.

Like Steinbeck's book and the movie title both of which I have yet to read or watch we were at the mercy of the saying , "The best laid plans Of Mice and men."

After the gig, unthinkingly, in burst of A.D.D. enthusiasm, I chose to book my band, "Molly and Sonny Boy" for a future gig, on one of our Most-Lucratve-Gig-paying Days of the Year (we will be publishing the Molly and Sonny Boy Favorite St. Patty's Day Ditties CD in Feb. Stay tuned!")

In foolish haste, I jumped at the chance to perform, with just a cursory remark to my singing partner. My unbridled enthusiasm had erased all my common sense (a typical A.D.D. trait-listen our our Molly and Sonny Boy song I wrote called, "A.D.D. blues" which you may listen to here: http://www.myspace.com/mollysonnyboy.

In ignorance I wound up upsetting my singing partner (because he did not know his work schedule, nor did he want to play for so little pay either at that low-paying venue on St. Patrick's day, thus tossing me into the proverbial drink, or rather, the proverbial grog!

Yup, along with being persuasive and articulate, I surprise myself sometimes with how I am able to be tactless and annoying too.

After deep apologies and a sober conference with Sonny Boy, matters were clarified, and Molly was forgiven her faux pas.

In addition to that, I felt like an idiot for being so insensitive to my music partner's wants and needs, but poo-poo happens, and you hopefully, learn and grow from it.

Lessons are learned each day my chaotic hubbub of pursuing the dream of fortune and fame, and I hope I can document these lessons each and every time online for others to benefit from my experiences.

One more thing I have to add is this warning; Wash your hands and before you shake the hands of others look out for brown-under-the-nails. Please don't ask me why.

I believe that it is in the actual chasing of our dreams that we find the great experiences such as the stress and challenges we need that will prepare us to endure and enjoy our future fortune and fame.

It is time to get real! It is time to get Humble. It is time to get ready for success mentally, emotionally and physically.

Thus, I have created the following 3 rules to live by.

Follow "Molly's 3 Success Rules to Making it in Your Career" if you want to avoid celebrity-induced mental illness and enjoy a happy and hopefully, successful career in the field of your choice:

1. Work with someone you really love that loves you back, and who is someone whom you can communicate with honestly.

2. Say, "I'm Sorry!" when you screw up because you will screw up, and stick to them like Crazy Glue if they forgive you your errors.

3. Remind others that you are not perfect nor do you expect them to be perfect.

They are not Jesus Christ, even if they might look like him.

They cannot perform miracles as He did, neither can you nor I.

They may raise Cain, but they can't raise the dead.

None of us can read minds or motives as He did.

Believe my 3 rules, and practice these success rules every day.

Here's the fun part.

When success finds you because you overcame all your life's hurdles with my good advice (which is worth more than the price you paid for it- LOL) don't forget the source of your good advice.

I hope you will pitch some dough-re-mi our way and set Molly and Sonny Boy (Jim and Me) up in our own Penthouse Palace in Manhatten, or we would enjoy living in a beach house on Catalina Island if that suits your fancy.

If you care to put us in your wills or send us your money, go right ahead. Yet we don't like those televangelists who, although entertaining, are just asking you to help God by giving them your money! (Who are they kidding! God doesn't need your help or your money! God owns everything, he's not like Barbie--where you have to buy her friends!)

In conclusion, I hope you will remember that no matter what the others say, success will never be had for free- Success if just too classy to be had for free!

Though we may jokingly ask something for nothing, remember that everything has it's price from your Ipod to your happiness.

Decide if you are able to pay the price for success in your career.

If you can pay the price, and if you want to pay the price, then pay it.

Please never forget to enjoy the profits, but be willing to accept the trade-offs too!

Remember success is a whole lot like love...

How do you spell love?

T-I-M-E

Musically yours,

Amalia a.k.a "Molly" of Molly and Sonny Boy

A singing teacher's view of American Idol

http://www.amytriebenbach.com
On 12. 21. 06 Molly wrote
I was thinking tonight of the appeal of American Idol, the TV Show.
One thing we see in our American Icons such as Elvis, and Bob Dylan, or Judy Garland is that those artists are not just singers, they are venerated as American Idols.
If you want to go straight up as an artist then you should learn your music and work hard and go on American Idol.
As a singer-songwriter and singing teacher I am not surprised with the success of American Idol. I mean, as a little kid growing up in Toronto in the sixties I was hooked on a popular Sunday afternoon show called, "Tiny Talent Time." Does anyone remember that show?
It was sweet. It was exciting. It was NOT the gong show. If you've got the guts, make a bold move and head on over to your nearest metropolis and audition for "American Idol," but if you fail please don't give up your dream, it is closer to reality than you think.
Wanna get knocked down? Go to Music school.
I went through the College way of becoming a singer...facing the dreaded GENERAL RECITAL once a week where you sat in front of your peers and singing instructor, who each volunteered their critique of your singing. Believe me, it was a lot worse than American Idol because you weren't just being critcized by a panel of official artists or producers in front of people who could actually help your career, but you were criticized by your peers and instructor who did little for you except tell you how you sucked. Why did their views matter so much to me back then? I mean, it made me feel inadequate enough being judged by my instructor, but getting the disapproval of my fellow students hurt.
Nevertheless, the comments were meant to help! It was hard to accept it. It was difficult, and they told you what you wouldn't hear from fam and friends. They spoke their thoughts.
It did teach me the musical development life can be cold, cruel and ego-bashing, alright, but that is really the way it goes.
Sonny Boy and I have been performing at independent living and assisted-living, nursing homes, and special homes lately. Do you think it is easy for the employees there to deal with the irritable sick and aged? They say things just as bad as celebrity judges, and they say them to nice people with talent and kindness. Not folks starving for attention with intonation problems, and weak pipes.
You know who needs to be celebrated now don't you? Those healthcare workers.
American Idol just tells me what I think is clearly the choice of each singer going in for that competition, if you are going to take your best shot be prepared to feel your worst and if you can just suck it up and look good maybe you will win the opportunity of a lifetime, otherwise, stay home and be like the kids I went to college went, armchair critics, and don't embarrass yourself.
If you want to toughen your hide then work with some crabby folks. They will verbally abuse you and you'll say, "Ah well, what can you do?" Smile and decide to progress in your career.
One thing about respect, you must respect your artistry and seek the honest truth. Critics do matter. However, never, ever, ever give up!
Just take it from there and continue your musical and artistic development. Also, if you arn't too nervous, if you are starving for attention, if you know inside you have obvious celebrity potential along with great musical talent and you feel you can survive the trial by fire of American Idol auditions you may just have the chance of a lifetime.
Those people on "American Idol" are like my peers and me in the Vocal Music Dept., they are there because they want to be.

R & R beat Holiday Fatigue

Is there any wonder we all get nuts during the holidays?
Add sentimentality, lack of proper sleep, and the time crunch and what we have is a bunch of screaming babiies in need of a nap!
Molly and Sonny Boy suggest cat naps...think of your cat, or take our 2 cats affectionately known to Molly and Sonny boy as "R & R": Rascal, and Romeo..they are selfish little furballs, and they don't care. Their full-time job is to be furry and cute..and to sleep around the house.
They sleep on the dining room chairs, move to the couch, upstairs to the bed, then to the divan in the hallway..at night they are like rockstars running out and in and doing what they darn well please...but they KNOW THE POWER OF R & R.
So please, don't turn into one of those cranky, screaming creepy folks you see in the shopping lines, and Post Office, just do what a Rascal and Romeo do...lie back, and close your eyes and for just 45 minutes have a bit of R & R.
This tip courtesy of a unique, and musical pair, Molly and Sonny Boy.
Musically yours, and keeping it loose!

Nursing homes and Assisted-Living Centers + You Tube Surprise

Hi Everyone,
Hope the Holidays don't get you down. We are trying to spread holiday cheer and goodwill by performing for a bunch of nursing homes and assisted living centers. The experiences we have had so far are priceless.
Last night, Molly almost assisted an elderly man to escape his nursing home..the guy wanted out of the building so Molly held the door open for him while he wheeled by, that is, until the alarm went off and Molly had to rope him back in.
Today at one of our assisted living gigs an elderly lady from Texas pulled out her harmonica and surprised us by playing along with us during our performance. We could never just up and leave after any of the gigs because the old folks want to share so much like the one lady who has 10 kids and 72 grandkids..she can name them all for you if you ask.
Here is a link to a video that is priceless when you are feeling blue. Make sure to watch all of it and show it to your mum.

Molly and Sonny Boy know all about japenese towels and such, and soon you will learn the real meaning of surprise!!
Sincerely funny,

Successful Musicians May We Pick Your Brain?

Molly and Sonny Boy don't want to be wasting time online if we don't see any results. As you can tell we do a lot of marketing on the internet.

What experiences online have been successful for you in promoting your band? Is there a way to promote our music to podcasters, and is it worth it?

While the internet is a great past-time we firmly believe that practicing our songs, gigging, sell CD's in person and doing radio interviews and getting press are important to real results.

Any other ideas about how we should market our duo here in MN?

Is it worth it to send CD"s out for reviews or is that just throwing one's money away?

How about enlisting other artists to help be our agents and vice versa?
When you give someone a hot tip and they get a good gig, do you ask for money? Should you, and if you don't do you expect the favor in return?

Can we realistically network as musicians and help each other out? Or is there a competition acting as a barrier between musicians?

How important is it that musicians have a niche, and how do you get one?
How do you find your audience and keep them coming back for more?
Any info is appreciated.
Musically,
Molly and Sonny Boy

Voice tips for Singers during the wintertime

Voice Tips:

Losing your voice, or damaging your vocal cords is no fun.
As a professional voice instructor, I just want to drop 3 tips to my friends about good singing during the Holidays because cold weather and dry air are not friends to the singer!

1. Drink lots of hydrating fluids like Klarbrunn, and warm liquids (not hooch...that drys you out!)
2. Warm up your voice K? How about a few yawn-sighs, and some do-re-mi's for awhile. Wear a scarf like Josh Grobin does.
3. Mic yourselves right. Don't strain at the bit, and make sure your sound guy (yes, even if the sound guy is you) turns up the gain on your voice amp. No shouting...unless you do it properly supported and your vocalis muscles are sturdy, strong and well-rested!

That's it for now. Any questions or comments...I'm happy to help.
Who doesn't want to be a rock and roll star with a record contract..so singers take great care of your voices!

Since 1990, Molly and Sonny Boy, known to their families as Amy Triebenbach, and Dr. James Zents have been performing music professionally in various venues, and with different bands. It wasn't until 2005 that Molly and Sonny Boy began performing regularly together as a creative singer-songwriter team.
The two members of the music duo, Molly and Sonny Boy, have a breath of experience in music performance, and entertaining groups of music-lovers.
Molly, whose real name is Amy Triebenbach began her musical studies when she was a child growing up in Toronto, Canada. After marrying an American, and moving to southern Minnesota, Amy attended Minnesota State University Mankato and got a degree in vocal education. Along with being a performer, and a composer, Amy teaches private singing lessons, and in the public school system at the Lafayette Charter school in Lafayette, Minnesota. Along with being an excellence singer, Amy also plays the piano, the guitar, the mandolin, and the ukulele. Amy's singing ranges in styles from the Jazz idiom, to opera, to pop music, to folk music, and to the blues. You'll hear her singing on this three tracks CD we are submitting to you, and you can judge for yourselves as to what you feel her singing is worth.
Sonny boy, whose real name is James Zents, is a seasoned performer with over 50 years of music-making. Ever since he was a child growing up in upstate New York, Sonny Boy has been rabidly exploring, creating and stretching the boundaries of his musical creativity. Sonny Boy is the original Guitar Hero. You'll notice his fine playing on the CD, and his incredible arrangements of the holiday songs, you are about to hear.
It is difficult to describe the genre of Molly and Sonny Boy's. Suffice it to say, they are singer-songwriters, yet they also enjoy performing music from a variety of popular music artists, embracing the cover songs of the 20th and 21st century, yet interpreting the blues, jazz, country, and classic rock songs in their own unique way.
Since this promo kit is featuring their holiday music, we will share their particular interpretation of the holiday songs that you will enjoy.
Molly and Sonny boy have performed for many special events. Due to their small band size, they are often seen performing at places such at the Sugar room, in Mankato, Minnesota, the Coffee Hag in Mankato, the Holiday Inn in New Ulm, the summer performance series in southern Minnesota, such as the Community Concert Series in New Ulm. Because Sonny Boy is a the leader in the medical community, along with being an emergency-room medical physician, he is often willing to perform many charitable events. Molly and Sonny Boy volunteer many hours performing at charitable event such as the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life Benefit, and the Lions Club, and the United Way Day of Caring.
